Approach

Hyphn worked with Instrument to understand how its people collaborate, create, focus, and connect across locations. Through an integrated process, Hyphn supported workplace strategy, furniture planning, technology design, installation coordination, relocation management, and other project needs to create a workplace that felt distinctly Instrument.

The design emphasized choice and adaptability, with settings for focused work, team collaboration, hybrid meetings, social connection, and creative exploration. Each element was considered as part of a larger workplace experience: a headquarters that could draw people in, support the way Instrument works today, and continue evolving with the business.

People work at desks in a bright, open office filled with trailing plants hanging from the ceiling and large white saucer-shaped pendant lights.
A large white arched bridge spans across an outdoor patio where people sit at tables among greenery and potted plants under a clear blue sky.
Two people sit at a wooden table in a modern office under a large ring light, as two others walk through an open doorway.
A red "ON AIR" sign hangs above a glass-walled studio where two people are seen recording.

Outcomes & Impact

Instrument’s new office is an active, flexible workplace that supports a wide range of work styles and hybrid experiences. The space gives employees more choice in how and where they work while creating a strong expression of Instrument’s culture for team members, clients, and the broader Portland creative community.
